Delegating Stake through Mobile Wallet

Download the Theta Wallet app in the App Store / Play Store, or if already installed make sure you have upgraded to latest version.

Once your wallet is unlocked, click the Stakes tab at the bottom of the screen, then click Deposit.

In the Guardian Node Holder (Summary) field of the Theta Wallet app, click the QR code icon and use your device to scan the QR code of the Guardian Node.

For One Click Guardian Nodes, select Delegated Guardian Node and choose a Guardian Node. You don't need the QR code.

You may also write down / copy-paste the Guardian Code Address (Holder and/or Summary) from your phone app and keep it in a safe place for later reference or delegate with Theta Web Wallet.

Then in the Wallet app enter the amount of THETA you want to stake to the selected Guardian Node and click Next. Note that you need to delegate at least 1,000 Theta tokens.

Wait to make sure the stake deposit transaction is confirmed.

In your wallet, you should see the Tfuel balance increasing by 12 Tfuel (if no commission) every 10-12 days per 1,000 Theta tokens staked.

You can run your own Guardian Node, delegate to someone you know that already has a Guardian Node, use the built-in function One Click Guardians Nodes Delegation or join a commercial pool.

I have Theta tokens in my wallet and want them to move to an existing Guardian Node. How to proceed?

You need the Guardian Node Summary for that Node or use the built-in function One Click Guardians Nodes Delegation and go into your wallet and click the stake tab and put in that Guardian Node Summary, and how much you want to stake. You need also enough TFuel to cover the transfer cost.

Is the summary address same as the Guardian Node address?

No, the summary address is the address you stake to your Guardian Node. It's different but it starts with the Guardian Node address and it's longer.

No, the Guardian Node address is different from the Guardian Node Summary given to you by your Guardian Node that you stake to through your wallet.

Unfortunately right now, you need to unstake first. It may be changed in the future.

How long does it take to unstake Theta tokens?

It will take around 60 hours to be fully withdrawn for you to be able to send it out of your wallet.

What is the minimum amount of Theta tokens to stake?

You need 1000 Theta tokens for your own Guardian Node or to delegate. If you have less then pool with a trusted friend is your best bet.

I don't know anyone who has a Guardian Node and I am not sure if my bag is worth running my own Guardian Node.

I have more than enough Theta tokens, but I heard the cost of running own GN is high and doesn't worth it for couple of 1000 Theta tokens.

If you leave your computer on all day anyways then it doesn't really cost anything extra to run a Guardian Node, but if you're not someone who leaves their computer on all the time, then it does cost more.

Currently, the only way to add to your position is to add 1000 Theta tokens or more.

Ok, so you would be "delegating" this means no need to run a Guardian Node anymore... and you earn the same as when you are running a Gardian Node?

Same steps in your wallet as you do to run your own GN. You just use the Summary of somebody else or use the built-in function One Click Guardians Nodes Delegation and no need to run a Guardian Node.

Is there any benefit to stake in a new Guardian Node or better to build the balance higher on the existing Guardian Nodes?

It's always better to have fewer strong Guardian Nodes then several weak Guardian Nodes. If you delegate, it's better to spread multiple 1000 Theta tokens batches on different Guardian Nodes in case of Internet or power outage to minimize your rewards losses.

When Theta Labs gonna raise staking yield?

Unlike other staking protocols, Theta has a two token system where both THETA (that you stake) and TFUEL (that you earn and also can been staked) are traded assets. This means Theta Labs can't arbitrarily raise the staking yield as simply as you could if you were earning in the same token that you are staking. Theta Labs are continuing to look into potential changes, but it's a different situation than other staking protocols and one that can't use as simple of a fix.

How much TFUEL is used to send Theta tokens from one wallet to another?

At the moment, it's 0.3 TFuel. BTC and ETH are slower than Theta blockchain (1-2 seconds) which is the cheapest.

If you have two different deposits that are over 1000 Theta tokens each, and they are in the same address, does this mean you could unstake one deposit without affecting the other?

You can as long as they came from different wallets. The unstaking command comes from the Theta wallet, and will unstake any tokens from a given node address.

Yeah I have done it and still get paid for the other addresses while unstaking from the other address. It's true if they are staked from two different wallets to same or different Guardian node(s).

I am trying to add 100 Theta tokens to my stake. Can I only add a minimum of 1000 Theta tokens in order to add to my stake? This seems to be what the system is telling me. Can't I add a smaller amount once I have my initial 1000 tokens staked?

At this time, you can add only 1000 or more to stake at any time. You can also unstake all and then restake the 1100 or what.
